Ghost Lector FS Worldcup Factory Team
Damn fast: Caroline Bohé and her Ghost Lector FS are rocking the Mountain Bike World Cup. In Nove Mesto, the combo finished in 7th place. In Lenzerheide, it finished in 10th.
No other team represents women’s mountain bike racing better than the Ghost Factory Racing Team. Because even though Jenny Rissveds’ Team 31 is another women-only team, the commitment of the Bavarian bike manufacturer Ghost remains unique. For over a decade, the team around team boss Thomas Wickles has been fighting for the best positions in the World Cup. In this remarkable history, talented young ladies have been turned into superstars with winning ambitions. Anne Terpstra’s career is probably the best proof of this thesis. At 32 years of age, the Dutchwoman is not only one of the most experienced pilots in the World Cup, but also one to always keep in mind when fighting for podium positions. At the World Cup in Lenzerheide, she finished second after a tactically clever race. This not only underlines her third position in the world rankings, but she is also certainly a role model for her younger teammates. We had the chance before the race in Lenzerheide to take a look at the working equipment of probably the most successful women’s team from the MTB World Cup and were surprised in quite a few points by the choice of equipment. See for yourself what Caroline Bohé is riding. By the way, in our large model overview we also have the option to filter the complete market for special women’s models.

Caroline Bohé is 23 years young and has been riding consistently in the top 10 in the World Cup since her first year in the elite class. Ghost Factory Racing team boss Tom Wickles has proven in the past that he knows what young female athletes need to develop their full potential. In Caroline’s case, he’s certain: the best is yet to come.

Caroline Bohé is not afraid of even the most technical passages. In 2022, she even made a detour into the E-EWS at the end of the season and ended up in the top 10 there as well
.
Caro was a bit of the underdog in her U23 days and not on everyone’s radar, we fortunately recognized the potential in the athlete but more importantly the great personality. In 2022 she was already on the XCO podium twice and third in the XCC in Leogang – I’m sure that was just the beginning. Eyes open – Denmark is coming!

The details of the Ghost Lector FS Worldcup

Ghost Lector FS Worldcup
The Ghost Lector FS Worldcup of the factory team is not only an eye-catcher because of the striking 6-spoke wheels from Bike Ahead Composites. Also the independent rear triangle with closed frame system and the elegant lines of the main frame set the work tool of Caroline Bohé apart from the mass of bikes from the Worldcup.

The handlebar-stem combination from Bike Ahead Composites weighs only 220 grams and is manufactured in Germany (near Würzburg).
When designing the noble handlebar stem combination, the engineers were inspired by the look of a manta ray.

Caroline rides Sram’s Level brakes with the new “Stealth” lever. So the brake line runs very close to the handlebars before disappearing behind the race number. The polished surface matches the design of the frame.

Although Caroline is one of the lighter riders at 48 kilos, she relies on Sram’s 4-piston caliper for braking. The aluminum brake mount is supported on the rear wheel axle, allowing for a particularly lightweight frame design.

Twistlocs have always been part of Sram’s DNA. With this Twistloc can be controlled but not the circuit, but the complete chassis block. Soon, however, this part could be a thing of the past. At the World Cup in Lenzerheide, the first “Flight Attendant” suspensions based on cross country were spotted. It can be assumed that the Ghost Girls will also soon be equipped with fully automatic suspensions from sponsor Rock Shox. Lockout levers are then superfluous.

Sram’s Eagle Transmission shifter already works without a mechanical Bowden cable. The 700 € expensive rear derailleur represents the final evolutionary stage of mountain bike development.

With the Quarq Powermeter, not only can training be perfectly monitored. Caroline also uses it to evaluate her performance in competitions. Watt-controlled training is part of daily business in the World Cup. The minimalist chain guide keeps the drivetrain in place even in the roughest root passages.

The standard version of the Lector FS Worldcup comes with the 8-pin integrated telescopic support. However, the factory team is on the road with short-stroke (100 millimeters) Reverb AXS seatposts from Rock Shox.

Both the gears and the seatpost are controlled by an AXS Pod Controller. The small buttons have a much better feel than the AXS controller of the first generation.

Don’t call it profile! The Aspen ST mounted on the rear wheel does not resist when it comes to rolling. However, you have to be able to control the tire off-road. To prevent punctures, the complete Ghost Factory Racing Team drives with light Pepi’s Tire Noodle Inserts.

The days of absolute lightweight construction in the Worldcup are over. Meanwhile, the function of the bike is above all. Increasingly technical courses require sophisticated material. Telescopic supports and tire inserts improve the bike’s function and minimize the risk of defect, but they also increase the weight. With a ready-to-ride 10.52 kilos, you wouldn’t have stood at a starting line 10 years ago. Today, the bike regularly rolls into the top 10 of the World Cup in this setup. The results speak for themselves.
